Brent Council appointed Rick Mather Architects to design various three and four bedroom houses for social rent across infill sites located within the St. Raphael's Estate.
The approach taken analysed the existing estate to identify the opportunities and constraints for adding new housing units. An estate wide improvement strategy was produced to maximise the potential for the infill housing together with landscape improvements to tackle some of the main issues facing the estate. Further sites were also identified for future development that would strengthen the overall strategy.
A programme of resident consultation together with a close working relationship with the council helped develop the initial strategy into an action plan for delivering the 16 units and identified the scope for future development for the wider benefit of the estate.
