Introduction
In tandem with the Customer Service Centre and Library Rick Mather Architects have been developing a site-wide masterplan for this historic East Ham Civic campus. This provides a long term strategy for the site, bringing listed buildings back into use to reinvigorate the centre of East Ham. The masterplan improves pedestrian links through the campus and consolidates vehicular traffic re-establishing the original masterplan by Cheers and Smith.
A phased approach has been established, which involves the detailed restoration and alterations to six listed Edwardian buildings to enable their reoccupation. These tie into public realm enhancements to improve access and connectivity through the site, and include a new Energy Centre.
