|
Rick Mather Architects' masterplan identifies and develops new objectives for the museum which includes improving visitor circulation within the building and enhancing the architectural qualities of the 1881 Grade 1 Listed Waterhouse building. It also explores potential sites for new buildings in order to allow the museum to develop its specialised scientific facilities such as collections storage, labs, research facilities etc. Kevin Rellis, Head of Estates for The Natural History Museum, said, 'RMA were chosen because of their experience of creating innovative masterplans for arts venues and their individual tailored approach, which is essential for a unique building like The Natural History Museum.'
