RIBA Award for Sloane Robinson Building

The Sloane Robinson building at Keble College in Oxford has been awarded with a Royal Institute of British Architects Award

It is one of sixty three new buildings across the UK and the EU chosen to recieve RIBA Awards for their high architectural standards and their contribution to their local environment.

Commenting on the building the judges said "The detailing both internally and externally, is elegant, restrained, and feels qualitatively consistent with the existing college. Internally, the building is organised in a very straightforward manner, and is easy to use and understand. All of the spaces reflect their current use and, their capacity to be reinterpreted over time - restaurant, theatre, seminar, study bedroom. When the building is approached from, and used as an extension of the college, its circulation and spaces work coherently and effortlessly. "

As an RIBA Award winner the Sloane Robinson building is also eligible for the RIBA Stirling Prize which Channel 4 will broadcast on Saturday 16 October.
