Rick Mather Architects' design will provide the Cultural Centre with a new home for the nationally acclaimed art collection of Eastbourne's Towner Art Gallery as well as providing new conference halls, community activity rooms and a café. The work which is due to complete in early 2007 will
see the construction of a 200 sq. m gallery for the Towner nationally
important collection allowing more works to be brought out of the storage
and displayed. The project has already received significant grant funding from the South East England Development Agency, Art Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Mayor, Councillor Graham Marsden, says: "The new Cultural Centre will show people that Eastbourne is a place which celebrates innovations as well as commemorating the value of cultural heritage. |
