The development creates three new levels of galleries for the display of sculpture, painting and drawing. Carefully planned so as to be invisible from the street, the design unlocks the potential of an existing lightwell over the Egypt Galleries which RMA transformed in 2011. The new spaces will allow the Museum to provide much-needed new display space for the Western Art collection and will complete a further phase of RMAs Masterplan for the museum.

Designs for a new Ashmolean Welcome space are underway which are planned for completion in late 2014.

"As the Ashmolean undertakes its next exciting phase we are delighted that RMA will once again transform our museum."

Christopher Brown, Museum Director Ashmolean New Galleries, 2014
