The redevelopment replaces a 1930's leisure centre with a modern, environmentally sustainable complex including community and learner swimming pools, fitness studios and a state-of-the-art gymnasium.

The building's design is the result of a collaboration between Pozzoni and Rick Mather Architects and utilises high performance materials and cutting edge design and lighting systems.

The latest innovative leisure technology has been used to maximise the centre's accessibility to people of all levels of fitness and disability including the fitting of an automated, movable floor in the teaching pool and a designated section for Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) accredited equipment in the gymnasium.
