Rick Mather Architects are pleased to announce that planning permission was granted by Newham Council for a new Sixth Form Centre in the heart of Newham. The new Centre will provide capacity for up to 500 students within the historic setting of the East Ham Civic Campus.

The Sixth Form proposals involve refurbishment works to the existing listed Old Technical College, Old Library and Ex-Forward Planning Offices as well as works to the public realm in accordance with the RMA wider campus strategy, with the aim to open the campus and create a more welcoming and friendly environment.

The new Sixth Form Centre housed within the Old Technical College will host science labs and classrooms, with access to the Old Library for student breakout and study areas, and the Ex-Forward Planning Office for tutorial rooms and administration offices.

Works to restore the existing historic fabric of the Old Technical College are underway in preparation for its new use as part of Newham's Newest Sixth Form Centre. The first phase will open in the Old Technical College in September 2014 with the additional facilities available to students the following year.
