Our scheme identifies the need to underpin the large scale change in central Croydon with the careful heritage led regeneration of Fairfield Halls and College Green. The area and buildings are well known, and consultation has heavily influenced our approach. We are determined the redevelopment is embedded in the existing, continually evolving local and regional cultural environment. The catalyst of change will be the celebrated, but declining, Fairfield Halls where a major conservation project is planned to sympathetically upgrade the venue, returning many features from the original 1962 building. The wider scheme sees the replanning of College Green to provide a new amenity space and contemporary gallery for central Croydon.

The jury will be looking for schemes of the highest design quality that demonstrate a positive impact on their surroundings and make a wider contribution to life in the city.

All category winners, Overall Winner and the New Londoner of the Year will be announced on 7 July at the NLA Annual Lunch at the Guildhall. The project will also feature prominently in the 2016/17 edition of the New London Awards publication, as well as an exhibition in the NLA galleries at The Building Centre.
