Rick Mather Architects' residential development Chester Balmore has been shortlisted Development of the Year in the Sundy Times British Homes Awards 2014.

The category award stipulates: A residential development of up to 25 houses and/or apartments completed in the last 12 months that demonstrates a positive aesthetic architectural contribution within its immediate environ and judged on external and internal design, layout, landscaping and the provision of services and communal amenities.

The design of Chester Balmore was an opportunity to develop an extraordinary scheme that could demonstrate innovative architecture by integrating the latest sustainable standards with high quality design. The design of the development is a direct response to the surrounding context. Buildings have been positioned to reinforce the street and define public spaces. Activity a ground level helps enliven the street and foster a greater sense of community.
